On this Day 17 October 2018

Not just from today but I have visited the park a few time this week, I have been up-dating my records for this blog, going through old entries in my Quiet Walker blog I had recorded about the park. . It's been good to find things again that are often over looked, but are just as important for the whole ecosystem of the park from fungi to Liverworts.

There has not been as much fungi at the park so far this year, and I have put this down to the lack of rain, also I have noted as I have visited regular, it that a fungi can disappear within  a few days so easy to miss. The ground is covered in leaves which is making it hard to find them as well.

The birds have been quiet this week, have tried going early but the park is so full of dog walkers, the amount of people and dogs scare the birds away.

Not sure I am liking the dogs been encourage to chase squirrels.

On the Saturday it was so warm despite the wind , Daisy's, and Dandelions flowering. Saw the odd Butterfly in the distance and Hoverflies.

I saw a small flock of Redwings fly over the park on Monday, but up to now not recorded them in the park this year. Plenty of berries out in the county still for them to feed on.

"Piglet listened, a little nervously, to the roaring of the gale among the tree-tops. 'Supposing a tree fell down, Pooh, when we were underneath it?' 'Supposing it didn't,' said Pooh after careful thought. Piglet was comforted by this."~A.A.Milne.

  1. You have done well with the id Amanda and a wonderful variety of species seen and photographed. The snakeskin liverwort is particularly interesting. It is amazing what you can find when you really look.
Well done on the Redwings and I love the squirrel photos and the AA Milne quote :)

    1. Thank RR for the lovely comment, area were I photograph the Liverwort along the side of the beck is very dark during the summer months, even now with some of the leaves of its quite hard to get a photo. Not all the areas are accessible due to the high banks. But it is a place often overlooked.
