larch Rose  (Larix decidua)

A quick walk round the park, a bit dull as it has been raining.

Several Larch have red, crimson or pink in the female flowers, some with red in the males. The most reliable identification is made from the cones, which should be found on the ground at any time of year. But if there are more than one species, hybrid or cultivar close together, the task is confused. (FB)

Larch Rose
A common name for the female flowers of the European larch tree. The male flowers are clusters of yellow anthers which form on the underside of shoots. Pollination is by the wind after which the roses ripen into the familiar brown cones containing the seeds which dispersed by the wind.
